On July 23rd 2015 Triumph Motorcycles began an auction donating one of the three customised iconic Scrambler motorbikes placed in the Jurassic World feature film ridden by action hero Chris Pratt.
The bespoke bike, featured racing alongside Raptors in the film was sold by eBay with the proceeds going to Triumph’s nominated fundraising partner, The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride. Another of the bikes was presented to Chris Pratt as a gift after filming, the third is displayed at Triumph’s headquarters in the UK. |
Timeline
5 January 2014
We began discussions with Universal Studios in the USA for a placement for a motorcycle brand that would provide three motorcycles for the duration of shoot for a lead character with a fee for the placement to be negotiated.
Triumph UK were open to the idea, as the placement in terms of sheer reach was potentially massive, and Universal were open to the idea of using the Triumph Scrambler bike.
However, with the costs of possibly writing a bike off and taking into consideration the depreciation on two other machines, Triumph required assurances in terms of coverage if Triumph were to agree. Minus these assurances Triumph UK would not move forward.
However, full scripts could not be released in advance and Universal would not guarantee the number of exposures. We advised Triumph that the scenes were key for the Scrambler, and although they remained hesitant, we convinced them that this placement was not one to be passed over and we negotiated the best deal possible between Triumph and Universal.
1st February
Chris Pratt was announced as the actor, and Triumph UK agree to supply three Scramblers in customized colourways.
21st February:
Triumph delivered to Universal three Triumph Scramblers in matte khaki colourway.
10 April Principal photography and production began
12 June 2014: Jurassic World only release three photographs and the Triumph Scrambler features in one of them.
In a behind-the-scenes video from the filming, Pratt tears around on a Triumph and finishes with the question: “Hey, people at Triumph, can I have this motorcycle please?” Triumph duly oblige by gifting one of the scramblers.

Universal marketing advise us they want to use the Triumph bike in key art advertising – possibly the one-sheet for the film.
12 June 2014 Jurassic Park is released breaking records during its opening weekend, including the biggest opening weekend in North America, and the highest-grossing opening worldwide. It is the first film to gross $500 million worldwide in a single weekend, the fastest film to earn $1 billion, the second-highest-grossing film of 2015, the fifth-highest-grossing film of all time, and the highest-grossing film in the Jurassic Park film series.

Brandchannel press release announce: Jurassic World has a lot of product placement—and not all audiences are happy about it. Only one product placement escaped criticism - and that is the brand Triumph. Triumph are basking in the glow of the biggest movie in history. In February, brandchannel recognized Triumph for Lifetime Achievement for their annual Brandcameo Product Placement Awards.
Production Profiles Limited are delighted and extremely proud of our instigation and work in securing Triumph's involvement and placement in the highest grossing opening worldwide box office hit, Jurassic World.
